Improved employment terms for approximately 200 native-language teachers – Omniglot signs collective bargaining agreement

Published: June 19, 2023

The native language company Omniglot has signed a collective bargaining agreement with Almega, thereby securing improved employment terms for its 186 native language teachers.

Tellusgruppen AB acquired Omniglot last fall and has since been working to bring the teachers employed by Omniglot under the independent school agreement between Almega, Sveriges Lärare, and Vision.

The agreement affects 186 native-language teachers and provides for improved employment terms for Omniglott’s employees.

“Under this agreement, our teachers will receive, among other things, an occupational pension, better disability insurance, and more generous sick leave and parental leave benefits,” says Johan Bergström, CEO of Omniglot.

Since October 2022, Omniglot has been part of the independent school group Tellusgruppen AB.

“We are very pleased that our colleagues at Omniglot will receive the same terms and conditions as our employees at our other subsidiaries—Tellusskolan and Tellusbarn—regarding job security and employee benefits,” says Bijan Fahimi, CEO of the Tellus Group. “This initiative will entail an additional cost for the business, but in the long run, we as an employer will benefit from it.” More secure and satisfied employees mean lower staff turnover and greater commitment to the business. This, in turn, benefits both our students and our clients in the education sector. And this is fully in line with our belief that quality and profitability go hand in hand in the long run.
