Tellusgruppen AB Releases Its First-Quarter 2022 Report

The first quarter of the year was marked by strong growth, signaling that our long-term journey toward becoming a larger, high-quality company with a broad range of offerings continues. As part of this strategy, four distinct preschool concepts have been developed and rolled out on a broader scale.

First Quarter of 2022

  • Revenue increased by 37.6 percent to SEK 81.2 million (59.0). Organic growth amounted to 13.3 percent, while 24.3 percent was attributable to acquisitions made in the previous year.
  • The average number of enrolled children and students was 2,168 (1,566), an increase of 38.4 percent.
  • Operating profit before depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) amounted to SEK -3.0 million (-0.5), with a margin of -3.7 percent (-0.9).
  • EBITDA, adjusted for changes in accrued vacation pay, amounted to SEK 1.6 million (1.6), with a margin of 2.0 percent (2.7).
  • Net income for the period amounted to SEK -6.9 million (-2.5).
  • Net investments amounted to SEK -0.6 million (1.1).
  • Cash flow for the period amounted to SEK -4.1 million (SEK -7.0 million), and cash and cash equivalents totaled SEK 3.0 million (SEK 1.8 million) at the end of the period.

Significant events during the period

  • Thea School in Bromma was granted an extension of its building permit.
  • The Smedby Preschool in Upplands Väsby, with 100 spots, will open its doors in January.

“This year’s first quarter, with its very strong growth, signals that our long-term journey toward becoming a larger, high-quality company with a broad range of services is continuing. This is despite ongoing concerns about declining birth rates in urban areas, which have led to a slight drop in enrollment at our preschools since the start of the pandemic.”

The school segment continues to grow and is becoming a significant part of the Group’s operations, while the childcare segment is impressing with strong growth and healthy margins.
