Aurora Gabrielsson
Principal, Thea Schools

What is your role within the Tellus Group?
I am the principal at Thea Private Elementary School in Bromma.

What does a typical day look like for you?
A typical day can involve anything from holding staff meetings, meeting with parents and students, collaborating with the student health services, to managing schedules or handling finances and the budget. I work closely with the staff on day-to-day tasks and take various initiatives or make decisions to ensure that everything runs as smoothly as possible.

I drive various initiatives and processes to advance the school’s development and work on the school’s goals and outcomes in relation to our systematic quality assurance efforts. The role of principal is dynamic and demands a high degree of both structure and flexibility; no two days are alike.

If you were to recommend a friend to apply to Tellusgruppen, what points would you make?
I have been working for Tellusgruppen for nearly two years now, and I can see that this is an organization that values high quality and sets ambitious goals. Since Tellusgruppen also includes several elementary schools, this is a major asset for development and collaboration between the different schools, both at the principal level and organizationally.

Background
I have been working at the school as a French and English teacher since the fall of 2013 and have helped develop the school as an assistant principal since 2018.

My goal is to continue developing our school, with a focus on students’ academic growth, together with all our talented staff, students, and parents. Thea Elementary School should be a place where everyone can grow, develop, learn, and feel safe. The school should be a place where everyone is respected and where everyone’s skills are valued.

Thea Elementary School’s goal is to be a middle school small enough for everyone to get to know one another and large enough to maintain a consistently high standard of academic achievement among its students.

Years with the Tellus Group: I’ve been working at Thea Elementary School for nearly 10 years, but I’ve been with the Tellus Group for 1.5 years.
Education: Stockholm University College of Education (2002–2008); I’m currently pursuing a principal training program at Uppsala University.
What do you like to do in your free time: When I’m off work, I prefer to spend time with family and close friends. I appreciate the little things in everyday life and enjoy dancing. We often travel to France when we’re off work—we have relatives there—but also to the Canary Islands during the darkest days of winter to reconnect with my roots and enjoy beautiful beaches with sun and swimming, something I truly love.
